Lil acts of kindness

I happen to be at a charity fundraising event here in the city called "Big Tom Living in the Shed for Daffodil Place".
For those of you who are unaware - Daffodil Place is an accommodation building for people who need to travel to the city for Cancer treatment - so as to eliminate the stress and the cost of finding somewhere to stay for those periods of time. (You can read more about this yourself HERE)
K-Rock's superstar, Big Tom, is living in a shed a few feet by a few feet for 8 days in a charity event to raise money to finish the construction of this much needed building.
To keep us posted on his progress he is writing a daily blog that can be found HERE and there is a 24/7 live cam feed HERE.
So, now that I have told you the circumstances of this event - I will tell you why I am writing this (other than to spread the word of this more than generous offer of Big Tom's time).
The lil acts of kindness that you see from people. People of all shapes and sizes.
I was at the shed checking in on Biggie T - and a car pulls up with a family of three in it and a lil girl climbs out of it and rushes to the shed so she could give Big Tom her 20 dollars to go towards the charity.
And I was just so touched at the moment I told the people I was there with that I thought it was sweet - at which point they unloaded on me the stories that had been going on for the last 2 days. Lil boys dropping of 1/2 of their birthday cake and 1/2 of their birthday money. People of donating 5 dollars because that is all they had to spare but gave it because they felt others needed it more than they did. Families driving from across the city to drop off blankets and donations because they were heart struck about what Tom was doing.
It just warms you up a lil in a cold February to hear that in such a cut throat and backstabbing and stressful world that we all get absorbed in and consumed by so easily - that there is still genuine kindness out there in heart of all sorts of people. And we should find a lil faith in that.
